After arriving at Dulles on Sunday evening for an overnight flight to Istanbul, we landed safely around 4:00 pm local time after a 9 1/2 hour flight. All of our luggage made it as well! Our Turkish guide, Ahmet, met us at the airport and helped us board our coach bus to the Kent Hotel, in the heart of the Old City of Istanbul. It was a smooth drive to the hotel and we learned a bit about Istanbul and took in beautiful views of the city. Our hotel in Istanbul is very nice and we enjoyed a very nice welcome meal together.
Tomorrow will be a full day of sightseeing around the city of Istanbul, with some free time in the afternoon, before an evening outing and dinner back at the hotel. Look for some great pictures and stories tomorrow after our first full day in the city!
